Once you've removed the oxidation, it's important to properly clean and dry the PCB. This will help to prevent the oxidation from coming back.

How to remove oxidation from your PCBs?

Have you experienced oxidation problems with your PCBs in your stockroom? Don’t worry. There are practical solutions to address or prevent oxidation problems. In this article, we’ll be taking a look at a few different ways to get rid of that oxidation and get your PCBs back in tip-top shape.

First, contact CCI Canadian Circuits about your oxidation problem when it is discovered. Our engineers can suggest how to remove oxidation without damaging the board. Different PCB finishes have different requirements, so it’s important to address the correct problem from the beginning.

Once you’ve checked in with the CCI team, you can start thinking about how you’re going to tackle the oxidation. There are a few different methods you can use, depending on the severity of the problem.

For mild oxidation, a simple green scrubbing pad and some soap and water might be all you need. Just be careful not to scrub too hard, or you could damage the board.

For more stubborn oxidation, you might need to use a chemical cleaner. There are a number of different cleaners available on the market, so be sure to read the label carefully before you use one. Remember never use any harsh chemicals or abrasives, as these will damage the PCB traces.

Once you’ve removed the oxidation, it’s important to properly clean and dry the PCB. This will help to prevent the oxidation from coming back.

Here are a few additional tips for preventing oxidation:

  • Store your PCBs in a cool, dry place.
  • Avoid exposing them to extreme temperatures or humidity.
  • If you’re not going to be using them for a while, coat them with a thin layer of conformal coating.

By following these tips, you can help to keep your PCBs looking their best and functioning properly for years to come.

If all else fails, just give us a call at CCI Canadian Circuits. We are always ready and happy to help you out.
